Overlake Medical Center’s $20 million cancer center officially opened just before National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The construction overhauled the first and second-floors inside the existing hospital. more >

The University of Washington unveiled the Coach Don James’ statue outside Husky Stadium on October 27, 2017. Sculptor Lou Cella managed to perfectly capture the former coach's signature look of stern reproof. more >

10.24.2017 GeekWire: Google + FB Sites Will Rank Among World’s Most Salmon-Friendly Buildings
Vulcan has started or completed 11 Salmon-Safe projects with five more on the horizon. This includes the Lakefront Blocks in South Lake Union, which will be leased by Google. The two-block, 600,000 square foot project began in May 2017 and will finish in 2019. more >

The city issued shoring and excavation permits for Amazon's fourth block of their downtown campus. The 24- and 8-story towers will be designed by Graphite Design Group and built by GLY Construction. more >

The Seattle Architecture Foundation model exhibit runs Sept. 13 - Nov. 18 and is part of the 2017 Seattle Design Festival. Among the models on display is Graphite Design Group's homeless shelter for families in Amazon Block 21, which will put Mary's Place at the center of a major downtown business hub. more >

Materials for the Seattle Art Fair's VIP Lounge were prefabricated off-site and assembled in one day. The lounge was disassembled at the close of the fair, and all the building materials can be reused – one of the main goals from the project's inception. more >

08.09.2017 MacMiller: Tons of Teamwork: LSE Central Plant
Thanks to MacDonald-Miller and strong teamwork among the entire project team, this past January, the Lincoln Square Expansion Project brought the chilled water central plant online, which serves the entirety of the campus including a 31-story office tower, 41-story residential tower and 3-story retail podium. more >

GLY Construction founder Bob Landau passed away peacefully on April 18 at the age of 93. Landau started the Bellevue-based company 50 years ago. Today it is one of the Puget Sound region's largest general contractors. He is remembered as a humble leader, an exceptional mentor, and teacher who passed on his considerable knowledge and expertise in self-performing structural concrete work. more >
