GLY Construction founder Bob Landau passed away peacefully on April 18 at the age of 93. Landau started the Bellevue-based company 50 years ago. Today it is one of the Puget Sound region's largest general contractors. He is remembered as a humble leader, an exceptional mentor, and teacher who passed on his considerable knowledge and expertise in self-performing structural concrete work. more >

Recently completed by GLY, the new, smaller Wild Ginger restaurant is set to open in its new home as part of the Lincoln Square Expansion. The current Bellevue location at The Bravern will close April 1 and the new location is expected to open April 9 or 10. more >

The SAAS CUB will break ground this week and open in the Fall of next year. The five-story, 74,300 SF middle school will include a rooftop playfield, a new gym, and one grade level occupying each floor within the building, with classrooms organized around flexible community learning spaces. more >

The Hines 800 Fifth Lobby Renovation is featured as Project of the Week in the DJC. The $46 million project included relocating 24-foot curtain walls, upgrading the bathrooms and elevator cars and a new structural pinned glazing system from England. more >

02.07.2017 DJC: Artwork Fits Right in with Brain Institute
Seattle-based Studio SC designed the public artwork called Pathways – recently installed on the exterior of the Allen Institute in Seattle. The 150-foot-long, exterior light box with color changing LEDs alludes to how our brains work and the institute's big science approach to brain research. more >

Jubilee REACH broke ground this week on a new Japanese library on their campus. Fundraising events yielded about two-thirds of the cost yet the goal was thousands of dollars out of reach. Then GLY stepped up with an offer of labor and materials. more >

After receiving regional recognition as ENR's Best Higher Education/Research Project, the Allen Institute moved on to the National level of competition and was chosen as the Best of the Best in its category. Project of the Year will be announced in the March 3 issue of ENR. more >

Set to open for business in the fourth quarter of this year, the eight-story, 168,000 square foot Class A office building will be LEED Gold certified and include a 3,800 square foot rooftop amenity center and deck, equipped with a conference room. more >

The interactive children’s museum closed almost two months ago in Factoria after outgrowing the space over its 11-year lifespan. The grand opening for its new location is set for January 31. President and CEO Putter Bert projects to serve 250,000 visitors a year. more >
